The figures below are showing data for the period 31-10-2023 to 14-11-2023.
Until today, Thetis sampled 3987 depth profiles on Lake Geneva. In this Newsletter we show 27 profiles, so just 0.68% of the recorded data. The complete data set is available at Datalakes.
Our Thetis is back online with most of the variables, so let us have a look at current output.
We can see that the lake is slowly cooling down but that there is still a lot of energy stored in the deeper layers, where we find positive anomalies up to +3 Kelvin.
This beginning of November was defined by cloudy, windy and rainy weather, which led to a very non-diurnal air temperature profile and waves up to 1 Meter on November 5th. This wavy episode also mixed the water column, visible in the temperature, oxygen and salinity profiles around November 5th. Salinity in general is very low due to the high precipitation input and low evaporation rate.
Data from the Thetis profiler:
Water Temperature in °Celsius
Water Temperature Anomaly on daily resolution with respect to to the available daily climatology from Thetis so far in Kelvin
Dissolved Oxygen mg/L
Oxygen Saturation in %
Salinity mg/L
Data from the automatic weather station:
Air Temperature in °Celsius
Wind Speed in m/s
Precipitation in mm
Data from the wave buoy:
