Temporal and spatial variations of the settling particles fluxes in Lake Geneva (SEDTRAP)

The project in a nutshell

The goal of this project is to quantify the temporal and spatial variations in the composition and fluxes of the settling particles in Lake Geneva. We will collect settling material using sediment traps for 3 years, in order to characterize the inter-annual and seasonal variations. We will identify the composition of settling particles through different chemical analyses. This dataset should help to constrain the net ecosystem production, the mineralisation of organic matter within the water column, and the flux of calcite precipitation.
