CO2LEX: Surface Turbulence and CO2 Lake Exchange Experiment

The project in a nutshell

The focus of this project is the quantification of air-water CO2 exchange.

Our objectives are:

  • to quantify the exchange of CO2 between the lake surface and the atmosphere
  • develop quantitative linkages between near-surface turbulence, meteorology and the measured CO2

We propose to simultaneously measure CO2 exchange, near-surface water column turbulence, and meteorological conditions (wind speed and air temperature).  The velocity, temperature, and meteorological measurements that we plan to collect are standard measurements that will aid the broader LéXPLORE scientific community.
