Lémanscope
The project in a nutshell:
This citizen science project, conducted in collaboration with the Association pour la Sauvegarde du Léman, Eawag, and the University of Lausanne, aims to raise public awareness of Lake Geneva’s health while actively engaging citizens in measuring water transparency and colour. Data collected by participants, combined with high-frequency measurements from the LéXPLORE platform and satellite imagery, will enable the analysis of seasonal and spatial variations in water quality and improve understanding of the lake’s ecosystem. These data will also be used to calibrate satellite imagery and develop a monitoring model specifically adapted to Lake Geneva.
