The project in a nutshell
Understanding adaptation of planktonic communities to climate change is key to predict the evolutionary trajectories of important ecosystem services like carbon cycling. To this aim, the LAC project will rely on LéXPLORE to characterize contrasting lacustrine habitats, define the ecological niches of planktonic organisms, identify patterns of key adaptive genes, and therefore predict ecosystem responses to global change as well as provide decision makers with sounding mitigation strategies.
