The project in a nutshell:
Within the context of the larger RICH project, we will establish 14C inventories of carbon phases in major river watersheds and receiving lake basins. At Lake Geneva, RICH is collecting a time series of 14C content in water column reservoirs (DIC, DOC, POC) and material from sediment traps. Further, compound specific 14C measurements in sediments will be used to reconstruct past lake water DI14C (chlorins), and to investigate fluvial inputs of OC (e.g., n-alkenoic acids, lignin) over the industrial period.
