RAINBOWflow CHIPonline: A fish cell-based impedance sensor to monitor water quality

The project in a nutshell

We are developing a biosensor for automated water quality testing, using live fish cells, which are capable to predict toxic effects on whole fish. For this, lake water will be pumped through a microfluidic chip containing the cells, and cell viability is determined by measurement of electrical resistance. We want to design a portable system for use in the field, with the data being accessible online and in real-time to inform about the current water quality.
